Arethusa Pool

The Arethusa Pool is located in Lake Wanaka on Mou Waho Island. This pool contains two small islands, while Lake Wanaka is situated on the South Island of New Zealand, which is located in the ocean. The pool is named after a nymph from Greek mythology who lived on an island off the coast of Sicily. It was formed approximately 15,000-20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age when Lake Wanaka was filled with glaciers that carved this pool out of the rock.
